I started a spotify radio station using Steven Winwood’s “Higher Love”. It’s one of the greatest things that’s happened to me this week. And it hasn’t been a crappy week!
That’s all.

I figured with all the Manti hubbub lately that there’s never been a better time than the present to share my small and inconsequential story with being “catfished.” The following story is 100% true.
I’ve met a hell of a lot of people through the internet. Between Tumblr, MeetUps, online dating, work, and even tennis, a majority of meaningful connections I make these days start online in one form or another. In addition to that, every single person I’ve met from the internet since this one instance 10 years ago has more or less been exactly who they said they were. I don’t believe actual “catfishing” occurs as often as the media or the movie* or the show would have you believe.
However, nearly a decade ago, there was a little site you may have heard of called Hot or Not (and you wonder why I hadn’t shared this story before now).
I once met a guy on KaZaA. We too exchanged AIM sns and as luck would have it, he lived in the dorm across the street! He promised me he wasn’t an axe murderer and then we drove to the edge of town in the middle of the night to watch the Leonid (I think?) meteor shower. Y’all, our romance was literally written in the stars!
But no, really, KaZaA and I never actually dated but he became that friend that you would kind of lose touch with periodically but then pick up your friendship right where you left it following a chance encounter at the library or beer store. We had some great times Saturday garage sale-ing and dive bar people watching. He’d pick me up from class on occasion and treat me to sensible lunches. We even ate at United Market Street the very same day as the great Bobby Knight “Salad Incident.”
Just checked - we’re still facebook friends but I couldn’t tell you when we last spoke.
Absolutely Amazing Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids: http://www.pbs.org/parents/fun-and-games/activities-and-crafts/thanksgiving-crafts-for-kids/
We’ll probably post this again before the holiday, but just in case your family wants to get started early, here you go!
My grandma still has the Thanksgiving-themed napkin rings I colored in 3rd grade on display in their curio cabinet. It still makes me just as happy and proud to see as it did when I was 8.
Also, Auntie Amanda cannot wait to make these with this little turkey!
